2017년 ‘핫펑크 프로젝트’의 대략적인 개요를 보여주는 프리뷰 전시 이후,

이번 스페이스22에서는 Hot Punk Project_Signature Lines’ 라는 타이틀로 그 동안 작업해왔던 핫펑크 프로젝트를 본격적으로 선보일 예정이다.

 

이번 전시 제목인 'Signature Lines'는

카드를 이용해 패턴을 만드는 나의 시그니쳐 라인과

현대 여성들의 소비적 욕망을 보여주는 명품 브랜드 시그니쳐 라인의 중의적 표현이다.

 

핫펑크 프로젝트 작업은 길거리나 차량에 꽂혀있는 출장마사지 홍보용 카드를 모아

한국 남성들의 성적 환타지, 성매매 혹은 현대 여성들의 소비적 욕망, 이제는 우리의 일상 깊숙히 숨어있는 성매매 산업을

스트라이프 패턴, 미쏘니, 페어아일 문양 등을 통해 컬러풀하고 아름다운 추상 패턴 작품으로 선보임으로써,

자본주의 사회의 화려함 뒤에 숨어있는 어두운 도시의 단면들을 패러독스 형식으로 표현하는 작업이다.

따라서 겉으로 보이는 문양이 화려하고 아름다울수록 작품의 패러독스는 강화된다.

이번 전시에서 좀 더 확장된 미쏘니 패턴은 기존 작품과는 다르게 투명과 반투명의 라인이 교차되면서 더 아름답고 우아해졌다.

카드를 줄이면서 투명과 반투명 라인을 교차시킨 이유는

이제 우리 주변에서 이런 성매매 여성들은 거의 눈에 띄지 않게 점점 사라지고 있기 때문이다.

그러나 실제 성을 둘러싼 음성화의 영역은 점점 거대해지고 있다. 단지 바로 눈 앞에 없을 뿐.

그녀들은 온갖 이미지로 우리 곁에 존재 했다가 스르륵 사라지고, 갑작스럽게 존재감을 드러내면서 툭 튀어나왔다가

어느 순간 조용히 사라지기를 반복하면서 교묘히 우리 일상으로 스며드는 중이다.

나는 그것들을 시각적으로 표현하고자 했고,

점점 우리 시야에서 뿌옇게 사라지다가 갑자기 나타나는 그녀들의 이미지를 잡아내고 싶었다.

 

이제 그녀들은 새로운 오브제인 명품 구두로 등장하기 시작한다.

나는 여성의 신체 일부를 패턴화시켜

크리스찬 루부탱, 지미 추, 마놀로 블라닉 같은 명품 구두를 만들었다.

이제 카드 속 여성들은

컬러풀한 추상 색면 패턴에서

우리 일상의 오브제로 점차 전환되는 중이다.

 

일상의 오브제로 구두를 선택한 이유는 구두가 갖고 있는 수많은 함의 때문이다.

예부터 여성의 발은 남성들에게 성적 매력의 포인트였고, 섹시함과 페티쉬의 상징이기도 했다.

또한 오즈의 마법사나 신데렐라 등의 동화 속에서 구두는

여성들에게 새로운 세상을 보여주거나 원하는 것을 얻거나, 신분을 상승시켜주는 도구로 쓰인다.

특히 중국의 전족은 남성들의 성적 욕망을 충족시키기 위한 이기적이고 폭력적인 산물이기도 했으니,

구두는 여성의 욕망, 섹시함에 대한 욕구, 화려함에 대한 기대감, 남성의 폭력성과 집착적인 페티쉬 등 모든 것이 포함되어 있는

다분히 함축적인 오브제인 셈이다.

Working on the Hot Punk project, we collect cards for promotional travel massages on the street or on the vehicle the sexual fantasies of Korean men, the consumption desires of sex trafficking or modern women, and now the sex trafficking industry that is hidden deep in our daily lives

By presenting colorful, beautiful abstract patterns through striped patterns, Missoni, Fair Isle patterns, and so on,
It is a work of expressing the dark aspects of the city hidden behind the splendor of capitalist society in a paradox form.
Therefore, the more colorful and beautiful the pattern on the outside, the stronger the paradox of the work.
In this exhibition, the more expanded Missoni pattern has become more beautiful and elegant as the lines of transparency and translucency intersect, unlike previous works.

The reason why the transparent and translucent lines are crossed while reducing the number of cards is because
This is because these prostitution women are disappearing almost unnoticed around us now.
However, the real area of speech surrounding gender is getting huge. It's just that it's not right in front of your eyes.
They exist by our side in all sorts of images, then disappear, and suddenly pop out, showing their presence
At some point, we are sneaking into our daily lives by repeating the quiet disappearance.

I wanted to express them visually,
I wanted to capture the images of them that gradually disappeared from our sight and suddenly appeared.
Now they begin to appear as luxury shoes, a new object.
I pattern a part of a woman's body
Made luxury shoes like Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik.
Now, the women in the card in a colorful abstract color pattern it is gradually shifting to our daily objects.
The reason why shoes were chosen as objects of everyday life is because of the numerous implications they have.
Since ancient times, women's feet have been a point of sexual attraction to men, and they have also been a symbol of sexiness and fetish.

 

Also, in fairy tales such as The Wizard of Oz and Cinderella, shoes are used
It is used as a tool to show women a new world, get what they want, or raise their status.
In particular, the whole family of China was also a selfish and violent product to satisfy the sexual desires of men,
Shoes include women's desires, sexiness, expectations for glamour, male violence and obsessive fetish
